Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,

SONICFLOOd has done a new rendition of this hymn, which has helped it get some play back in churches and youth groups (and thankfully, they don't up the tempo). Also encouraging is David Crowder Band's promotion of old hymns. DCB is, by most accounts, the biggest CCM band today, and they always play a hymn or two at their shows as well as on each album. They've done some great covers of "Come Thou Fount," "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing," and "All Creatures of Our God and King." As well, Chris Tomlin did a decent rendition of "Amazing Grace" for the Amazing Grace soundtrack and his latest album. Also, Reformed University Fellowship (college ministry of the PCA) is well-known for doing modern (mostly acoustic and respectful) editions of hymns on their Indelible Grace albums.

So, there are some positive signs, WTM. Plus, there are some current CCM/P&W artists writing new songs which approach the quality and sincerity of the classic hymns (e.g., Jeremy Riddle, in addition to DCB and Tomlin). Otherwise, as you know, I completely agree with your assessment.

This song has spread worldwide, we sing this song as well at our church in Helsinki Vineyard in Finland. Such a great hymn with powerful lyrics. It was a tough call to translate it into the Finnish language but managed to do it with the grace of God.

“You Wonder Where the Spirit Went”: Jenson and Barth on the Hiddenness of God By Peter Kline I am entering into a conversation that Jenson has already begun with Barth. In a constructive essay on the hiddenness of God (Jenson 2000), Jenson considers Barth’s position on the matter only to find it lacking. I want to explore why Jenson has problems with Barth on this issue, as well think critically about his constructive alternative. I will suggest that Jenson is only partly right in his diagnosis of Barth; he in fact overlooks the heart of Barth’s teaching on divine hiddenness.
