Meanwhile, back at the ranch…
…or, Something to keep you busy over the weekend…
…or, The Past Fortnight in the Theoblogosphere.
Should we just give up on the whole “fortnight” thing? I mean, it’s been one week shy of two months since the last link post. What’s happened since then?
First, my book on Helmut Gollwitzer’s political theology has come out! It is attractively priced with a retail hit of just south of $30 USD. But Book Depository has been selling it at a discount (21% as of when I’m writing this) and also providing free shipping worldwide. So, what are you waiting for?!?! Order your copy now!
Second, DET contributor, Kathryn Heidelberger, published a review essay with The Christian Century entitled, Are Wendell Berry’s Port William stories about racism?
Third, friend of the blog, David Congdon, appeared on the Love—Rinse/Repeat podcast to talk about his book, The God Who Saves, one year after publication. It has some good biographical content if you’re wondering about some of the story behind the book. Anyway, we did a series of posts on this book recently, and those links are below.
Fourth, Youtube videos! The aforementioned David and I made a vlog when U2 cancelled their St. Louis show, so don’t miss that. Also, I posted a video wherein I discuss whether John Calvin had a central doctrine and, if so, what doctrine I think is his central doctrine. Have I said “central doctrine” enough yet, or should I mention “central doctrine” a few more times central doctrine? Anyway, get that video here, and get my whole Calvin playlist while you’re at it. We are knocking on the door of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, after all. Why not learn something about Calvin? Oh, you can also learn about Heiko Oberman, an important scholar of the Reformation, in the first Youtube video I ever posted.
Fifth, and speaking of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, your devoted theology bloggers here at DET are putting together a thrilling series with which to celebrate that occasion! #Refo500atDET - get excited, people! Anyway, I don’t want to say too much about this. But we’ll get underway and share the details of this on Monday, so stay tuned!
