More like “The Past Five Months in the Theoblogosphere.”

What happened? I couldn’t even tell you at this point. My intrepid associate editor, Scott Jackson, and I simply ran out of steam. Or hit a brick wall of other work. Or whatever mental picture you prefer. At this point I’m trying to come to grips with the reality that it’s unlikely we’ll be able to mount a regular posting schedule again, perhaps ever. Time will tell.

So DET is not over, but it has become and will continue to be more of an ad hoc thing.

That said, I still have a bunch of links to share. But before the links I want to highlight one of the highlights of my activities on the interwebs during the aforementioned five months – namely, Juan Torres’s interview of David Congdon and me. I commend it to you, if you haven’t seen it yet, as an excellent place to begin if you want to get a peek behind the McMakenian and Congdonian curtains, or you want to get a feel for what Dialectical Theology is all about. Here you go:

I'll be happy for whatever you get around to writing. No good trying to force things.

For a bit of feedback, I am impressed by that reading lost full of interesting links. I for one would not begrudge short occasional posts just like that for a less effortful content option.

But, before I do that, let me just say that I am by no means a Barth expert as compared to the people whose books I will mention below. “You Wonder Where the Spirit Went”: Jenson and Barth on the Hiddenness of God By Peter Kline I am entering into a conversation that Jenson has already begun with Barth. In a constructive essay on the hiddenness of God (Jenson 2000), Jenson considers Barth’s position on the matter only to find it lacking. I want to explore why Jenson has problems with Barth on this issue, as well think critically about his constructive alternative. I will suggest that Jenson is only partly right in his diagnosis of Barth; he in fact overlooks the heart of Barth’s teaching on divine hiddenness. The reason is that he looks in the wrong place for Barth’s pneumatology. Jenson can’t find the Spirit in Barth not because the Spirit isn’t there, but because the Spirit is hidden . At best they might draw sideways glances, as it were, as one travels the theological road.
